Anna Faris and Chris Pratt are under fire for mistreating their rescued dog.

According to reports, the film star couple are being fined $5000 dollars for reneging on an agreement when they adopted their chihuahua Pete in 2012.

Pete was found roaming the streets, underweight and distressed by a passer-by who took him to a local vet.

It has been reported that when Faris, 39, and Pratt, 37, rescued their pet pooch from animal shelter Kinder4Rescue, they signed a contract to pay a fine if the couple ever re-homed him.

Despite attempts to contact the couple, who married in 2009, Kinder4Rescue have reportedly been unable to speak to them regarding the issue.

According to American website TMZ, the couple are on holiday but have found a "nice family home" for the abandoned pet.
